JPYCC CLub CHarter

Preamble

The Jamaica Plain Yacht & Country Club (JPYCC) was established for one simple reason: to celebrate where we live, and who we live alongside.

JPYCC is a lightly tongue-in-cheek, mostly sincere community club for people who call Jamaica Plain home — or wish they did. We may not have yachts, and we’re not exactly Augusta, but we do have the Pond, a golf course, great bars, and a whole lot of neighborhood pride. That’s enough for us.

Article I – Purpose

JPYCC exists to:

  • Bring people together around a shared love of Jamaica Plain

  • Create casual opportunities for connection — from neighborhood events to member perks

  • Represent JP with a little flair and a little mischief

  • Offer a “club” that actually feels like it belongs to everyone

Article II – Membership

Who can join:

Anyone who feels connected to Jamaica Plain. Residents, regulars, friends-of-JP, bartenders, dog walkers, local legends, newcomers — if you love this place, you're in.

Dues:

Low. Nothing Actually. Maybe $10 if you’re feeling generous. Maybe a little more if you want a bit more swag here and there. Just enough to keep the lights on and the pins shiny.

Membership includes:

  • Ability to purchase swag (or be given some)

  • Your name or business on the website

  • Perks from local businesses and partners (we're working on it)

  • The unspoken right to say, “I’m a member at JPYCC,” and let people wonder what that means

Article III – Club Grounds

We don’t own land, but we claim it anyway:

  • The Boathouse — AKA Courageous Sailing on the Pond

  • The Links — formally known as William J. Devine Golf Course

  • The Clubhouse — Local patios, parks, backyards, etc. (wherever you’re hosting folks)

  • The Social Garden – AKA Thursdays on the Lawn at the Loring–Greenough House

  • The Gardens and Shops — The Arboretum & Centre Street

The neighborhood is the club. We just gave it a name.

Article IV – Events & Traditions

We’ll keep things light, local, and low-key:

  • Occasional mixers, golf outings, or “club events” at partner bars

  • A yearly something — maybe a garden party, maybe just a solid hang, idk, you decide

  • Pop-up merch drops so you can wear JP on your sleeve — catch us at Thursdays on the Lawn

Traditions will be invented as we go.

Article V – Club Values

JPYCC values:

  • Community

  • Local business

  • Showing up and maybe some showing off

  • Irony and some Passion

We are a “club” in name, but a neighborhood at our core.

Conclusion

JPYCC is what you make it: part clubhouse, part inside joke, part excuse to get to know your neighbors.

It’s a way to say you’re from JP without actually saying it. To support your neighborhood while sipping something cold. To feel connected without needing a reason.

And sure — we may never own a yacht. But we’ve got the Pond, a tee time, and each other.
